Relationship Between Coachesʹ Leadership Behaviors Dimensions and Teamsʹ Cohesion And Performance of Adolescents Football Super League Players

The main aim of this study was to examine the relationship between coachesʹ leadership behaviors dimensions with teamʹs cohesion and performance among adolescent football super league teams of Iran in 2006 year. Methods: To achieve this aim, 120 players who participated in this competition were considered as subjects. The instruments in this study were the Leadership Scale for Sports (LSS) Chelladurai & Saleh (1980) and Group Environment Questionnaire (GEQ) Widrneyer, Brawley & Carron (1987) For analyze gathering data was used SPSS software, thus was used from Pearson Correlation Coefficient for inspecting the relationship between variables and the Independent-Samples t Test for comparing of teamsʹ cohesion in low groups. Results: The results were indicated that the significant relationships were between dimensions of coachesʹ leadership behaviors and teamʹs cohesion. Coaches who were perceived as high in positive feedback, training and instruction, social support, and low in autocratic behavior and democratic behavior, their teams were more cohesive. Furthermore the teams that had more cohesion mybe experienced more successes than other teams. Conclusion: Teamʹs cohesion has significant correlate with coacheʹs leadership behaviors, also teamʹs performance has correlated with teamʹs cohesion
