A critical analysis of the discourses of Molaviʹs biographies

The writers of this article have tried to show two different faces of Molavi through his works and biographies; and have discussed that how these biographies constructed a social discourse from Molaviʹs spiritual heritage and how they established a powerful ideology and then a social organization. To do this, the writers have studied three famous biographies of Molavi (Valad Naame, Resaale-ye-Sepahsaalaar and Manaagheb-olʹaarejin), and have critically analyzed the discourses of these biographies in order to show the formation of Mevleviyan sect in Anatolia. This study shows that the first biography (Valad Naame) makes a real image of Molavi as a moral and spiritual Sufi. The second text (Resaale-ye-Sepahsaalaar) has tried to present him as a myth, and the third one (Manaagheb-olʹaarejin), has shown him and his successors as saints who perform great miracles; and constructed an ideological discourse from Molaviʹs thoughts and ideas.
