Estimating of interception loss, stemflow and throughfall in a natural stand of oriental Beech (Shastkalateh forest)

In this study, measurements of precipitation, throughfall and sternflow fluxes were conducted from November 2005 through November 2006 with in a natural stand of oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) in district I, Shastkalateh, Hyrcanian forests.Total precipitation in this period was 827.\ mm year-I. A sample of31trees was randomly selected. ThroughfalJ and stemflow ofeach tree were collected after every precipitation. Through fall and stem flow fluxes represented 40% and 0.3% ofthe precipitation, implying that interception loss (the difference between precipitation and sum of through fall and stemflow) was 59.7%. Relation between throughfall, stem flow and interception with precipitation was invistigaited.
