Biology and Seasonal Fluctuation of Population of Nabispalifer S. in Alfalfa Fields in Zardanjan Region of Isfahan

Damsel bugs (Family: Nabidae) are abundant predators in many agricultural habitats including alfalfa, cotton and soybean fields in Isfahan region. N. palifea Seidenstucker is strikingly predominant species in alfalfa fields and is predaceous on many different species of insects and small arthropods, including aphids, thrips, bugs, mites and lepidopteran eggs and larvae. N.palifer is usually active from May in Zardanjan (east of Isfahan). They lay eggs into alfalfa stems. Each female lays about 100-150 eggs during lifetime. The eggs hatch in about 8-10 days. Development from egg to adult take approximately six weeks passing through five nymphal stages. This species overwinters, as adults or last nympbal stages in different shelter including surroundings fields, litter, dead leaves, under stones and under the barks of trunks of various trees. N. palifer produced 4 generations per year in the studied area with two population peaks
