International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families

There exist approximately 190 Million migrants all around the world including workers, refugees, asylum seekers and permanent migrants which consist 3% of the world population. This fact entails different social, economic, humanitarian, legal and political implications. The convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families as a comprehensive international document aimed at protecting the rights of migrants was adopted by the general assembly of the UN in 1990 and 13 years later was intered force at 2003 upon signature and ratification by 20 countries. The rights inserted in this convention is applied both on workers and their families regardless of being legal or illegal migrants. The aim of this article is to elaborate this convention and its contents.
