A Survey of the Holy Prophetʹs Military Campaigns from Quranic Standpoint

The holy Prophet (peace be upon him) managed to achieve his own principal objectives in Medina such as overthrowing the polytheism and replacing the Islamic government through his military campaigns, so-called jihad. These military campaigns, aimed to fortify favoring new religion of Islam and expand Muslimsʹ authority throughout the Arabian Peninsula, presented Muslims as a powerful force among Quraysh tribes. They were based on the Islamic teachings of jihad; what incitcd Muslims to participate boldly in battles against polytheists. A number of these battles are alluded in the holy Quran verses. This article takes Badr - the Muslimsʹ first serious encounter with polytheists - and Ohod - in which Muslims sustained an unexpected and sever defeat - into consideration.
