Mulla Sadraʹs Philosophical Approach to Quranic Exegesis

Mulla Sadraʹs interpretive work is of great importance in Quranic approach among his works, and shows the method of his theosophyʹs approaching Quranic exegesis in a better way. Scrutiny in the points of convergence of Quran and philosophy shows the effect of philosophy on exegesis. This article presents some points of Mulla Sadraʹs understanding and interpretation of Quranic verses based on the notion of science in philosophy and transcendental theosophy. Issues such as no compulsion in religion, impossibility of denomination of divine essence, libidinous pleasure in the world, the mystery of the peopleʹs being of three groups [in the Hereafter] (i.e. people of the Left, people of the Right, and the Preceding), the fashion of self-deception, the notion of the believerʹs light, the difference between Quran and Furqan and the distinction between the Last community and other communities, all have specific answers based on the notion of science in the transcendental theosophy. In the discussion on divine knowledge, after stating its different types, the article attributes the divine trial to that level. In this discussion, the passage "and you didnʹt throw [the arrow] when you threw [it]" has been translated, and the necessity of the predestined sustenance for the creatures is proved.
