The problem of Human Trafficking is a universal phenomenon with broad effects on global society. Its cause and locus is in poor and underdeveloped societies which have difficulties like poverty, unemployment, inequality, discrimination and violence against woment, and the domination of men in patriarchal family, social and political systems. Women and children are the main victims of it, who become engaged in international criminal networks by assuming to save themselves and to find a shelter and support. This article seeks to pose this problem and its causes and effects, the responsibility of Governments and the inadequacy of their efforts and their legal and institutional cooperation, and the necessity of preventing and controlling it as modern slavery or slave trade in the modern age.
