3. Economies of Scale and Technical Efficiency of Iranian State Insurance Companies (1370-1384) Using DEA

The purpose of this article is to measure technical efficiency and economies of scale in four Iranian state insurance companies during 1370-84. To achieve this goal, we used Data Envelopment Analysis. The results reveal that with the assumption of variable returns to scale, Asia insurance company has the highest technical efficiency and Iran, Alborz and Dana insurance companies come next, respectively. Furthermore, this study shows that Iran insurance company in the period of study had constant return to scale. However, other insurance companies had increasing return to scale.
