The Study of Semantic Field in Depressed Patients and itʹs Effecacyin Counseling

This is a descriptive study. The purpose was to assess the semantic field of depressed patients and itʹs efficacy in counseling with them. For this purpose 30 depressed and 30 normal person were selected using available sample method. Research instruments were Beckʹs depression inventory (revised), altered form of semantic differential test with 6 stimulus concepts (self, life, past, father, mother and future). Results indicated significant difference between semantic field of depressed patients and normal persons in the total and in self and future concepts. The results also showed positive correlation between severity of depression and negative semantic field. Mother concept was the strongest predictor of the rate of depression.
