An analysis of demographic attitudes and awareness of students

The present research aims to study the demographic awareness and attitudes of the students of the Islamic Azad university. With the use of a questionnaire, single students who were enrolled in the universities of region four of the Islamic Azad university were questioned about their demographic attitudes and level of knowledge about population matters. Utilizing the Cochran formula, a stratified random sample of 380 students were selected. The findings of the research revealed that the average level of demographic awareness of respondents (on a scale) tended toward the high and of the "good" category and that male students were much better aware than female students. Students who majored in the "sciences" as compared to other majors, had more awareness; and students who had passed the "population and family planning" course were better aware than those who had not completed that course, Another finding was that demographic awareness had no relations to sexual preference for children and that demographic awareness had a direct relationship on the use of contraceptives and family planning methods.
