Nominal Compounds with Present Stem as Second Term in Persian and Sogdian

The study and classificasion of the Sogdian and Persian nominal compounds, in which the second part is a present stem, and also a comparison between these compounds in these two languages is the aim of this paper. The study of this group of compounds, which is one of the most frequent compound categories in Indo-Iranian languages is a sample for understanding the similarities and differences of these compounds between the two languages under investigation, and also it is a step, though small, towards a comprehensive contrastive analysis of the other grammatical categories in Sogdian and Persian.
