Iranian Islamic Revolutionʹs Impact on International Relations Theories

Iranian Islamic revolution in 1979 is considered one of important political and international events. Supra-national nature of Islamic revolution, international status of Iran and strategic importance of Persian Gulf and middle-east, indicates that Iranian revolution is an international event and phenomenon. This article is aimed at answering this fundamental question that what reflection Iranian revolution has had in theories of international relations. Iranian Islamic revolution had a determining role in weakening of traditional theoretical fundamentals of international relations as well as emergence and development of theories for revolution, Islamic movements and religion within the frameworks of ideationalism by offering new socio-political values, norms, beliefs and order on one hand and revival of political Islam, Islamic awakening, strengthening of Islamic movements and encouraging reactions from opposing ideologies on the other hand.
