POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The Polish Academy of Sciences is a state scientific institution created in 1952 acting through an elected corporation of scholars and its establishments. The Academy is composed of both domestic and foreign full and corresponding members. Members are elected by the General Assembly from among candidates with the utmost scientific achievements whose names are submitted by current members, scientific councils of Academyʹs units and research and development institutes as well as university scientific councils. The seven divisions, of the Academy are: Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Basic Sciences, Technical Sciences, Agricultural-Forestry and Veterinary Sciences, Medical Sciences, Earth and Mining Sciences. The duties of the divisions include providing opinions on issues concerning its scientific disciplines and administration of the scientific committees.
