The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation was established in Berlin in 1860 in memory of an eminent scientist and explorer called Alexander von Humbolt who devoted his money to financing research by German academic abroad. So far more than 23000 scholars from 130 countries supported by this foundation. Fellowships have been allocated to promote the transfer of knowledge and methods and to contribute to further development in fellowʹs home countries. The main purpose of this foundation is to support and develop the international scientihic relationship and to offer research awards to the best scholars throughout the world as a lifelong tribute to their academic accomplishments. The aim of the foundation is to grant research fellowships and research awards to academically trained and highly qualified persons of foreign nationality, regardless of gender, race, religion on idealogy enabling them to carry out research projects in the Germany.
