Energy efficiency improvement in north Unifiner-Platformer unit of Tehran oil refining company

The energy Tehran Refineryʹs North Platformer and Unifiner unit uses, is 2.5 times more in comparison with similar units that are equipped with the most modern technologies. In this study, the researcher found more than 78 percent of deviation. Study of the process and equipment of the unit show that 91.6 percent of this deviation is related to the heat integration process and five heaters, called 2H-251, 2H-252, 2H-253, 2H-254 and 2H-202. Pinch technology has been used to optimize heat integration process. Also, heat recovery equipment together with flue gas analyzers has been used to optimize heaters efficiency. The pay-back period for five selected projects has been assessed to be between 2 to 34 months
