Review the Use of Financial Instruments on Capital Investment Appraisal in the National Iranian Oil Company

Long term investment has a great effect on the growth and value of organizations and development of countries. Since between the use of capital budgeting decisions by the organizations and their performance is a close relationship, so this research investigates using financial instruments in capital investment appraisal in the National Iranian Oil Company. One of the best methods for evaluating long term investment success is using financial techniques for choosing capital projects. The main purpose of this study is to identify the use or non-use of evaluation techniques. Firstly, uses of evaluation methods are reviewed and therefore, some reasons that may prevent using those techniques like lack of knowledge, structural, technical and economic condition are assessed. For data collection we use questionnaire and information of Pars Oil & Gas and Iranian Offshore Engineering And Construction Companies. Then for data analyzing this research is a descriptive correlation. At last some evidences showed that the use of financial methods in capital projects evaluation in national Iranian oil company, is lower than average. The result of testing assumptions confirmed that lack of knowledge and weakness and economic conditions cause not using assessment methods in capital investment appraisal.
