Thispaperintroducesanovelcontrolmethodologybasedonfuzzycontrollerforaglucose-insulinregulatorysystemoftypeIdiabetespatient.First,inordertoincorporateknowledgeaboutpatienttreatment,afuzzylogiccontrollerisemployedforregulatingthegainsofthebasisProportional-Integral(PI)asaself-tuningcontroller.Then,toovercomethekeydrawbackoffuzzylogiccontroller,i.e.,thelackofsystematicmethodstodefinefuzzyrulesandfuzzymembershipfunctions,fuzzyPIcontrollerareoptimizedbyParticleSwarmOptimizationwithLinearlyDecreasingWeight(LDW-PSO)algorithm,whichisanovelevolutionarycomputationtechnique.SimulationresultsshowtheeffectivenessoftheproposedoptimalfuzzyPIcontrollerintermsofaccuracyandtimemargin
