امام غايب را تعبير متناقض‌نما گفته‌اند؛ زيرا امام هدايت‌گري را بر عهده دارد و ناپيدايي و ناشناختگي امكان هدايت‌گري را از بين مي‌برد. اين شبهه، از غفلت از نقش امام در عصر غيبت برمي‌خيزد. امام? در عصر غيبت، همه شيون و مسيوليت‌هاي امامت را بر عهده دارد و تفاوت او در شيوه‌اي است كه به سبب حفظ ناشناختگي بايد به كار گيرد. اين نوشتار بر آن است كه تخميني از اين شيوه ارايه كند. اين تخمين مي‌تواند بر پايه درك نقش و وظايف امام و شرايط خاص غيبت استوار شود. راه دوم، رجوع به روايات است؛ رواياتي كه به تصريح يا اشاره از شيوه مديريتي امام? در عصر غيبت خبر مي‌دهد. مهم‌ترين يافته اين پژوهش، درك شيوه‌اي است كه ناشناختگي امام را از يك تهديد به فرصت بدل كرده است. همچنين فهم چگونگي حراست از حركت ديني در برابر مشكلات و دشمنان بدون ايجاد اختلال در سامانه خودبسنده‌اي كه امامان شيعه پايه‌گذار آن بوده‌اند.

The very concept of Hidden Imam is said to have been paradoxical, because Imam is responsible for guiding while invisibility and anonymity destroys the possibility of guiding in this interpretation. The question arises from the negligence on the role of the Imam in occultation. Indeed, Imam resumes all duties and responsibilities of his title, only his leadership method varies because of preserving anonymity. This article is attempting to give an estimate of how this method can be implemented. This estimate is based on understanding the role and duties of an imam and is based on the special circumstances of the Absence. The second option is to refer to the traditions, traditions which stipulated or referred to the leadership style of the Imam in the occultation period. The most important finding of this study is to understand the way in which the anonymity of the Imam has turned from a threat to integrity into a leadership opportunity. Also explained is how to safeguard the religious movement in the face of all problems and enemies without disrupting the self-fulfilling system that has been founded by the Shiite Imams.
