Quantitative Determination of Cardiac Glycosides in Leaves and Flowers of Nerium oleander from Babolsar, Iran

A simple method to identify and determine the total cardiac glycosides in Nerium oleander leaves andflowers from Babolsar has been reported. The chloroform extract was incubated with alkaline 3,5dinitrobenzoicacid solution as colour forming agent and the absorbance of resulting violet solution wasdetermined by spectrophotometer.
