Abstract :
The electronic structure of nitrogen doped TiO2 was investigated by ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy and soft X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. Single crystal rutile (1 1 0) samples were prepared by annealing in an ammonia atmosphere and subsequently annealed to different temperatures in an argon atmosphere. This procedure leads to a low concentration of oxygen vacancies. Resonant photoemission indicates hybridization of the O2p/N2p with the Ti 3d/4sp levels.
