Abstract :
The aim of this investigation was to evaluate some of the
effects of aqueous leaf extract of Salvia officinalison the kidney and
liver ofmale Sprague Dawleyrats. Ten Sprague-Dawley rats (7-11
weeks old) were randomly assigned into two groups; A and B.
Aqueous extract of S. officinalis leaves (300 mg/kg body weight) was
administered orally to the rats in group B while the rats in group A
received equal volume of normal saline for 14d. At termina??on of
treatment, the histopathology of the kidney and liver were assessed.
The kidney and the liver in the extract treated rat displayed
organized and preserved histological profile. Our findings suggest
that S. officinalishas no deleterious effects on the kidney and liver of
the rats.
