Abstract :
A system is developed for convectively cooling a structure in which the heat flux along internal cooling channels must be uniform. This is accomplished through the use of an insert assembly whose conduction thermal resistance is varied by changing the geometry of its component rings. A numerical study has been performed to determine the thermal resistance of single ring inserts. These results lead to an analytical expression for a whole set of rings. Finally, an example is given that shows the feasibility of such a system.
