Waste heat recovery using heat pipe heat exchanger for heating automobile using exhaust gas

The feasibility of using heat pipe heat exchangers for heating applying automotive exhaust gas is studied and the calculation method is developed. Practical heat pipe heat exchanger is set up for heating HS663, a large bus. Simple experiments are carried out to examine the performance of the heat exchanger. It is shown that the experimental results, which indicate the benefit of exhaust gas heating, are in good agreement with numerical results.
