Abstract :
A computer program GEZ has been described for determination of the equivalence point, concentration of the free acid and E0 of the glass electrode at the acid-base titration. The program works in three steps. In the first step, using the Gran method, GEZ calculates the equivalence point and the concentration of the free acid, HGran. In the second step it calculates the E0 of the glass electrode and checks its accuracy by calculating the free acid concentration, HE0, via the measured potential E and calculated E0. If the difference dH = HGran − HE0 is acceptable, program goes to the third step and calculates the experimental values of the hydroxide number of the metal ion, Z, as an additional check of the accuracy of both HGran and E0. If dH is not acceptable or the Z values systematically deviate from x-axis, the program repeats calculation by adding (or omitting) one or more points.
