Abstract
Salmon calcitonin (SC) was characterized voltammetrically at a mercury electrode by means of cyclic and square wave voltammetry. The voltammetric behavior of SC resembles the voltammetry of other biologically active compounds containing disulfide group(s). The existence of a well shaped peak due to reduction of adsorption SC was exploited to yield a sensitive analytical method for determination of SC concentration. Square wave adsorptive stripping voltammetry allows determination of SC at nanomolar levels.
