Abstract :
Copper(II) preconcentration was studied by means of a carbon paste electrode modified with 1,2-bismethyl (2-aminocyclopentene-carbodithioate)ethane. A flow system was designed and constructed for reproducible preconcentration and subsequent determination of Cu(II) (≤ 2 × 10−4M) accumulated by differential pulse polarography. Effects of different parameters on the peak area were studied. Rapid and convenient acid renewal allows use of a single modified electrode in multiple analytical determinations. For six accumulation/measurement/renewal cycles, relative standard deviation was 2.9%. As little as 1.4 × 10−6 M Cu(II) in water can be determined (4 min preconcentration time). The performance of the electrode is free from most potential interferers.
