Abstract :
A novel chemiluminescence (CL) sensing system for hydrogen peroxide combined with flow-injection analysis (FIA) is described in this paper. It is prepared by electrostatically immobilizing the analytical reagents, luminol and cobalt(II), on a strongly basic anion-exchange resin and a weakly acid cation-exchange resin, respectively. Hydrogen peroxide is sensed by the CL reaction with luminol and cobalt(II) bleeding from the ion-exchange column with immobilized reagents by hydrolysis. The calibration graph is linear in the range 4×10−8 to 1×10−5 mol l−1, and the detection limit is 1.2×10−8 mol l−1 hydrogen peroxide. A complete analysis could be performed in 1 min with a relative standard deviation of <5%. The system could be used for 50 h and has been applied successfully to the determination of hydrogen peroxide in rainwater and glucose in serum by measuring the formation of hydrogen peroxide from a packed bed reactor with immobilized glucose oxidase.
