Abstract
Benzoylecgonine is a metabolyte of cocaine. Benzoylecgonine can be electrochemically detected by square-wave voltammetry at a mercury drop electrode in 0.5 mol/l KNO3, at pH 9.2. The maximum response appears at −1.06 V vs. Ag|AgCl|3 M KCl and it depends on benzoylecgonine concentration, the square-wave frequency and amplitude, but it is independent of pH of solutions. The concentration of benzoylecgonine can be measured in the range between 1×10−6 and 4×10−5 mol/l.
