Abstract :
A study has been made on the non-protected room temperature phosphorescence (NP-RTP) determination of a β-lactam antibiotic, nafcillin, in a solution system in absence of an ordered medium. Batch and flow injection approaches were studied and compared. The analytical performance characteristics were as follows: the detection limits for batch and flow-through systems resulted to be 7.7×10−8 and 3.6×10−7 M, respectively, and a relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) less than 2.1% was found for both methods. Application of the method to nafcillin analysis in milk samples is outlined.
