Abstract :
The H-point standard addition method (HPSAM), based on spectrophotometric measurement, for simultaneous determination of Au(III) and Pd(II) is described. This method is based on the different rate of complex formation of Au(III) and Pd(II) with 5(p-dimethylaminobenzylidene)rhodanine (PDR) in the presence of formate buffer and Brij-35. A study of the rate of complex formation in various buffers was carried out and it was found that the HPSAM performed well in formate buffer. The results showed that simultaneous determination of Pd and Au could be performed in the range of 0.17–1.8 and 1–3 μg ml−1, respectively. Selectivity was investigated and the main interferences were eliminated. This method was successfully used for the determination of the analytes in jewelry and synthetic samples.
