Abstract :
This study was an investigation into the secondary school teachers’ perspectives on student misbehavior. A questionnaire was administered to 164 secondary school teachers (71=M, 93=F). The teachers reported that ‘parents who do not instill pro-school values in their children’ is the most prominent cause of pupil misbehavior. The misbehavior type ‘talking out of turn’ was given recognition as the most frequent type of misbehavior. The teachers also believed that investigating the misbehavior in a sympathetic manner can be the most efficient strategy in dealing with pupil misbehavior. The differences between male and female results and the implications of the study are discussed.
