Abstract :
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the correlation of alexithymia with emotional intelligence, depression, and anxiety in the students of Ahvaz Islamic Azad University. In the study, there were 400 subjects, 215 male students and 185 female students. The subjects were selected in a random stratified manner. The instruments used in the study are Ahvaz Alexithymia Scale (AAS), Petrids and Furnham Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). The statistical procedures used in the study were Pearson correlation and regression analysis at the level of P < 0/001. The results of the study indicated that there was a negative correlation between alexithymia and emotional intelligence and a positive correlation between alexithymia, depression and anxiety. Also, a multiple regression analysis showed that depression and emotional skills in emotional intelligence were significant predictors of alexithymia.
