Abstract :
The main aim of this paper is to analyze the textbook content of elementary grade (school) in Iran based on the concepts of citizenship education. The statistical society of this paper includes the textbooks of elementary grade and its statistical sample is the Persian) books which was chosen purposefully; the description criteria is citizenship education and the registration unit of pages (text, questions, exercises and pictures); in order to content analysis, Shannon Entropy Method was used. The results show that at first, the concept of active cooperation in decision makings of a society and also the group / team cooperation were considered in the content of this statistical sample significantly; then the other issues were studied such as preference of collective / group benefits over individual ones and its concepts, creating the questioning spirit, having a legislation spirit and respecting / observing the rules and regulations of a society in order. But the other concepts such as collective citizenship acceptance (in the local, national and global levels), introducing the state organizations, the duties of a government, significance of democracy and preventing / rejecting the despotism were less considered as well the international organizations and non-state ones. Based on these points, the significance of citizenship training and education was more in the textbooks of 3rd and 4th grade of elementary and was less in the textbooks of 1st and 2nd grades
