Abstract :
Cross flow fans (CFFs) have been used in many industrial applications. Up to date, no complete similarity law has been available for designing the CFF. This study adopted the CFD method to simulate the internal flow field of the CFF. The problem taken into account in this paper was assumed to be two-dimensional. Two kinds of CFF construction, including the simplified flow duct and the conventional split-type air-conditioner were considered in the numerical simulation. The development of the CFF similarity laws focused on the influence of the impeller rotational speed on the fan performance. According to the simulation results, some useful similarity laws related to the total pressure of the eccentric vortex center, the total pressure rise between the entrance and the exit, and the impeller rotational speed were summarized in this article.
