Abstract :
Experimental measurements of burnt gas composition and sound behavior in methane/air flames in a Rijke-type combustor are presented in this work. Given the long history of the device, there is a surprising lack of accurate data concerning its burnt gas components and their influences on the acoustic waves. The purpose of this work focused on the features of thermoacoustic behavior, combustion completeness and NOX formation. The maximum pressure amplitudes were found in the fuel-rich flames with an equivalence ratio of 1.1. Complete combustion of methane in stoichiometric mixtures cannot be obtained, and oxygen cannot be consumed completely in the fuel-rich flames. The equivalence ratio has a significant effect on NOX formation, and the NOX concentrations increase dramatically with the enrichment of fuel in the range of equivalence ratio studied.
