Abstract :
Heat transfer through Perforated Multi-Layer Insulation Blankets (PMLIB) is experimentally investigated, using a typical and a newly designed calorimeter, respectively. The comparison of the experimental data with the calibrated data of cryogenic container products which are thermally insulated using the same PMLIB illustrates that, since the new calorimeter has similar structure to that of a cryogenic container, heat flux measured using the new one agrees well with the calibrated data. It is confirmed that the structure and shape play an important role in the thermal performance of PMLIB.
