Abstract :
The resonant transmission of phonons propagating through a superlattice–solid interface is studied theoretically. The phonon transmission rate is calculated and the peculiar resonance peak due to the vibrational mode localized at the superlattice–solid interface is examined. Our results suggest how a superlattice can be used as an “impedance matching” device.
