Abstract :
By extending the effective mass method we have developed a theory of effects of chirality in carbon nanotubes. These effects has been shown to appear due to terms in the electron effective Hamiltonian describing the coupling between the orbital momentum around the circumference of a chiral nanotube and the linear electron momentum along the tube. Estimations has been obtained for the circular photogalvanic effect, magneto-chiral photogalvanic effect, magneto-chiral DC transport, natural circular dichroism and magneto-chiral absorption.
