Abstract
The deposition characteristic of particles at different air velocities and particle Stokes numbers in the 90° square bend was numerically investigated by Reynolds stress transport model (RSM) coupling Lagrangian method. The simulation computations were performed at different flow velocities and bend curvatures of the tube. The result shows that an increase in particle Stokes number induces a reduction of the particle penetration. A similar behavior is also demonstrated when bend curvature of the tube increases. Particle deposition velocity on outer wall is higher than that on other walls. It also can be found that particle’s centripetal force results in its deposition on outer wall. However, the gravity is the main reason that causes higher particle deposition velocity on the floor than that on the ceiling. The numerical results of particle penetration show a good agreement with the corresponding experimental data.
