Abstract :
The binding energy and dipole moment of a hydrogenic impurity confined in a quantum dot with the shape of spherical cap are calculated using the variational approach. The electron–LO-phonon interaction is taken into consideration. It is shown that the impurity binding energy and dipole moment strongly depend on the position of the plane surface and the radius of the quantum dot, and the influence of the electron–phonon interaction on the binding energy is not negligible.
