Abstract
A simulation study on the dynamic behavior of an optically pumped micro-disk laser reveals for the first time that the duration of the laser pulse emission is dramatically shortened for the pump power above its lasing threshold. The delay time of the pulse emission from a laser pumped by a long light pulse never increases while the delay time of the pulse emission of the laser pumped by a short light pulse experiences a slow decrease, a steep increase, and a sudden decrease corresponding to the pump power below, near, and above the lasing threshold, respectively.
