Diamagnetic susceptibility of a shallow donor in a quantum well

Binding energies of a shallow donor in the GaAs quantum well of the GaAs/Ga Al As system as a function of well width are obtained in a magnetic field using the variational method. With this function, the diamagnetic susceptibilities are estimated, after deriving the Langevin function using the Hellmann–Feynman theorem. The results are compared with a few values available in the literature. We also suggest a new method of estimating the flux quantum from a plot of 〈x2+y2〉 versus B−1.
