Abstract
In this paper, Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu,Dy (CMSED) microparticles were used as sensors to detect the stress distribution of aluminium base. The results show that the dependence of mechanoluminescence (ML) intensity on square of strain gauge shows excellent linearity, which is consistent with the relation between strain energy and square of strain gauge. This indicates that strain energy is responsible for the origin of ML. Furthermore, the stress distribution of aluminium base with a hole has been visualized using CMSED film, which is identical to previously calculated stress distribution. All the results show that CMSED microparticles can be regarded as sensors to detect the stress distribution of object.
