Abstract :
An investigation of the influence of a laser field on the exciton absorption spectra and the refractive indexes has been performed by using the matrix diagonalization and the compact density-matrix methods. Electrons and holes are confined by the parabolic potential of the quantum dot. We conclude that in quantum dots the laser field amplitude provides an important effect on the linear, third-order nonlinear, and total optical absorption coefficients as well as the refractive index changes.
