Abstract :
Using the variational method and the effective mass approximation, we have studied the binding energy and the photoionization cross-section of a donor impurity in InAs Pöschl–Teller quantum rings under applied magnetic fields. This work reports the binding energy and the photoionization cross-section dependencies on the geometry of the structure, impurity positions, asymmetry of the confining potential, magnetic field, and incident photon energy. The results show that the binding energy behaves as a decreasing function of the height, outer radius, confining potential, and magnetic field. Because of the decrease (increasing) of the impurity binding energy there is a redshift (blueshift) of the photoionization cross-section in the system.
