Abstract :
We present the first experimental study of the effect of a DC bias current IDC on the transport properties of a one-dimensional ballistic ring interferometer. As the absolute value of the bias is increased the phase of the h/e Aharonov–Bohm magneto-conductance oscillations changes by π. We also find a marked systematic difference between the R(IDC) dependencies measured in the minima and those measured in the maxima of the AB oscillations. We explain these observations on the basis of a weakly coupled model in which the transmission coefficient of a ring interferometer is determined by the eigenstates of a closed ring.
