Abstract :
We have studied the magnetic properties of Zn1−xMnxSe in the case of x=0.5,0.25 by using a FLAPW method with super-cells. The anti-ferromagnetic states are stable upon electron and hole-doping up to 0.4 per Zn0.5Mn0.5Se. Because the anti-ferromagnetic super-exchange interaction in Mn–Se–Mn direct bonds overcome the double exchange interaction caused by the mobile Mn–3d electrons and holes. In order to stabilize the ferromagnetic states, we have proposed a new guideline to reduce the anti-ferromagnetic Mn–Se–Mn interaction with reducing the number of the Mn–Se–Mn bonds by choosing the special superlattice configuration for Zn0.75Mn0.25Se. We proposed the materials design to fabricate the ferromagnetic Zn1−xMnxSe superlattice based upon the calculation.
