Single-dot-like emission induced by high magnetic fields

The observation of sharp emission lines in macro-luminescence experiments on type-II GaAs/AlAs double quantum well structure is reported. These lines appear in the spectra with the increase of the excitation intensity and become clearly resolved when high magnetic fields are applied in the direction perpendicular to the quantum well plane. They are tentatively attributed to the formation of quantum dot like objects with different symmetries.
