Abstract :
We have characterized optical transmission and magneto-optical properties of MnAs nanoclusters embedded in a GaAs matrix (GaAs:MnAs) in a near-infrared wavelength region of 0.9–View the MathML source. It is shown that the magneto-optical signals become larger with Si doping and the optical transmission of GaAs:MnAs is improved in the longer wavelength (View the MathML source), and the mechanisms for these phenomena are discussed. Furthermore, we have fabricated and characterized a semiconductor-based magneto-photonic crystal having Si-doped GaAs:MnAs whose operational wavelength was set at View the MathML source, and its magneto-optical performance was found to be improved compared with our previous studies.
